Although this isn’t set in stone. It’s certainly what I see the majority of the Tour Pros doing.

I think the idea revolves around the lead shoulder moving down during the takeaway/backswing. This then enables the center of the shoulders to remain stable. This is important because we want the head steady during the swing. The only way this happens is if the center of the shoulders is stable and we simply pivot around it.

When you watch the golf on the TV next time, look out for the guys and gals rehersing their takeaway while over the ball. A few that spring to mind are Justin Thomas, Ricky Fowler, Patrick Reed.

They all reherse their takeaway while keeping the club head outside their hands to P2. This get’s the shaft a little steeper on the way back and with the correct transitional move allows the club to shallow out coming down.
