Measuring how much Bend and Tilt you have at different points in the swing can be done by understanding where the chest is facing.

If you were to stand up straight with your chest facing forward, then Side Tilt toward the target, your lead shoulder moves lower than your trial shoulder.

So at the top of the backswing (P4) when the chest is facing away from the target, we can measure the amount of left Tilt by how much the left shoulder is lower than the right shoulder.

At P8 (right arm level with the ground post impact) when the chest is facing the target, we can measure the amount of right tilt by how much the right shoulder is lower than the left..

You get the idea…

Golfers who swing across the ball, tend to have their shoulders level (ish) at P6. This is when the chest is pretty much facing straight in front of us again, similar to our setup position.

Watch the video below to see how I instruct David to start producing more right tilt at P6 to help him attack the ball more from the inside..

The Pros have about 20 degrees of Right Tilt at P6.. meaning their trail shoulder is lower than their lead shoulder..
